Women are generally smaller and have a higher percentage of body fat than men. This causes their metabolism to work less effectively and slower. Women are able to receive liver disease from alcohol over a shorter time and after less alcohol consumption. Females are more vulnerable to brain damage from alcohol. Having more than two alcoholic drinks a day increases the risk of breast cancer. These diseases and effects may happen to males as well but it takes a lot more alcohol and usually a longer time than females. Plus men may not receive the disease as badly as women.
